1 Kings 17:21 Then he stretched himself out on the boy three times and cried to the Lord, “O Lord my God, let this boy's life return to him!” 22 The Lord heard Elijah's cry, and the boy's life returned to him, and he lived. 23 Elijah picked up the child and carried him down from the room into the house. He gave him to his mother and said, “Look, your son is alive!"
The story of Elijah is epic for the Christian faith and I always enjoy hearing sermons delivered on the subject. As our focus here is on Church Media, I’ve recently come across a powerful sermon illustration video on Elijah that I would love to highlight.
Elijah is produced by Dan Stevers. This illustration video summarizes the story of Elijah in dramatic form. Having recently used the video to open a series on Elijah, the response from it was excellent.
The video opens with dramatic scenes from the life of Elijah. It flows much like that of a blockbuster movie trailer minus the million-dollar budget. I appreciated the use of the Hebrew language in a few of the scenes, which felt authentic. The portrayal of the altar being lit up by God as Elijah was praying was really well done. All of this together gives the viewers a visual connection to the character and story of Elijah.
This is exactly what a great sermon illustration video should accomplish. Viewers will enjoy visual snapshot prior to diving into scripture and see it on the page. If you’re planning for a series on Elijah or just looking for a great sermon series idea, this video illustration would play a great supporting role.blog comments powered by Disqus
